Network Diagram

This is a very interesting approach to study and analysis my own cultural structure. I found there have so many methodologies to categorize the contacts I've got, but the key point is what is my research objective.

As this time, when I think how to get the full informations about my cultural network, I'm naturally think of the some electronic platforms, for example, my mobile's phonebook, the email account, the online friends group etc.

So this network diagram is focus on the electronic apparatus to study. I'm trying to classify different media with special methodology.

During the investigation, I've got a new chance to renew, rethink and reconstruct my own cultural network.

Object of Desire: Barbie Doll

In this Easter's holiday, I found a "Pinkish" exhibition were showed in the shopping mall of Tsimshatsui.

Actually it's a celebration of the 50th anniversary birthday of Barbie Doll. I think for somebody she is "dreams of beauty", or the sweet memories of childhood... etc. But for me, she means an "Object of desire", also as the symbol of fashionable. Maybe because of my interest in fashion design, I'm really very appreciate and fascinated by the designs of the wardrobes, from the styles of hats, dress, handbags and shoes also represented the sophisticated of every design details.

From a cultural and gender perspective, or for some feminist, the Barbie Doll may involved so much "problems" for us to rethink and critics about the politics of "standard" figure and women images. But for an admirer, it's still a very good opportunity to visit and enjoy the beautiful images of this classic icon.

Bachelor of Arts in Applied and Media Arts - Annual Exhibition 2009

I like the following "artist statement" very much...

"Nowadays, many people forgets something important around their life like family, lover and friends. They do not realize how important the relationship between family and them. When someone important is gone or something happen to them, it is always too late to learn how to cherish.

Because of the environment, we may focus on the career, working hard in the golden age and fight for higher positions in the careers, in order to obtain satisfaction in life, hence we tend to forget about the life and family. What I need to do is remind ourselves how important the family in the project through the Prophets Book and Keep them alert of how to cherish what they have."
