Cosmic Wonder

Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

In 2004, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo has launched an exhibition called "Space for your future."

The exhibition used "natural" re-live the nature of the material. Ironically, the most visual impact was the use of clothes, furniture, man-made wood and plants. The creator seemed to challenge the audienc
e to understand the impact of the decay of life and mankind.

Yukinori Maeda is an experimental Japanese artist and designer, not only in fashion design, his works also relate the scene of daily life.

In 2009, from February 7 to March 7, his new exhibition, "Light deposit" will be launch in Tokyo, perhaps it's the time to "feel" his spirit of design.

Imagination of Space

Space for Lease
Artist: Kum Chi-keung
Material: Bird Cages and Plastic figures
Size: 2.5 x 2.5 x 33ft
Year: 2008

I visited the Hong Kong Arts Center on last Sunday, initially, I was planning to see if there had a new exhibition, but unfortunately, there was no new introduction.

After a while, when I wanted to leave, discovered there had a "Big bird cage" installation displayed at the top of the lobby, the creator was the Hong Kong artist, Kum Chi-keung.

In fact, it was not the first time to see his work. In my memory, he always used the "birdcage" ideas. It seemed he always used similar elements, but from the changes of locations, size and installation methods, every works also revealed very different creativity.

Such as the above installation, each audience also can develop their own imaginations... In order to carry out this work, the artists used the existence of the "mirror" in space, so as to attract each visitor to make dialogue with him.

Voyage of Discovery: Shek Kip Mei to Tsim Sha Tsui

Although I'm living in Hong Kong, still not yet clear what is real local cultural heritage. As a "real" citizens of this place, I still have great interest to understand the "real" Hong Kong.

Visit the new exhibition "Voyage of discovery: the Shek Kip Mei to Tsim Sha Tsui" may become one of the ways.

In fact, this is the program of the 37th Hong Kong Arts Festival, and showing in 2009 February 6 to March 7 at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Foyer.

Hussein Chalayan - The Fashion Innovator

HUSSEIN CHALAYAN AT THE DESIGN MUSEUM, LONDON 2009

Hussein Chalayan is my favorite fashion designer, his experimental design concepts, curiosities, and creativity inspired me a lot. Currently, his personal exhibition is showing in the Design Museum of London.

Literally, he is not only a fashion designer, also an innovator and pioneer of merging design and technology in the creation of fashion, it may possibly because of his architectural background. This exhibition provided a chance to display his iconic creations within this 15 years. Not only in the perspective of design, also beyond the boundaries of imagination and vision of future.

"Panoramics" Collection were launched on 1998/99, the above visual installation revealed the designer how represent the differences of self and others.

Another experimental design was created in year 2000, called "Before Minus Now Collection", which was a design collection about the hidden illness of artificial intelligence.

The red one, "Reading" collection was the works of year 2008, the dramatic lighting effects became the most big impact to us.

"Airborne" collection was launched on 2007/08, the most amazing moment was came from the usage and creation of the "lighting" textile.
